Make the Most of What We Yet May Spend

trans:

Before us, days and nights have gone by
The wheel turning, destinies molding
The dust lying beneath your steps
Was once the pupil in a beloved's eye

Lovely.

We live in a golden world, apparently, when sunset/sunrise so decrees.

I like the name of the group; it's paradoxical and thought producing [oh wait; look: it turns out to be a real thing. A real thing that, when I read about it on Wikipedia, confuses me somewhat].

the axiom sounds more interesting than it is. It's just the assertion that if there is at least one thing to choose in any number of sets, a choice can be made for each set. It's not "provable", but it's so common-sense it shouldn't make a difference. Which of course, they said about parallel lines never meeting, but the world proved not to be very common-sensical in that one.

Funny story, though. In my twenties, drinking wine with my dad, we discovered that one thing we both had done in our dissolute youth was to steal a copy of "The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam" out of our respective High School Libraries' collection.

Blood will tell.

THAT IS THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY CASE OF BLOOD TELLING THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD OF.

New question to ask potential employees: "Has either of your parents ever stolen a copy of The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam?"

Certainly a very targeted one. But you know, in college, I got a ride home from a woman who had EXACTLY the same birthmark on her leg as Cara Sposa. Not a simple one. A complex set of dots in a specific hare-footprint pattern.

So if boozin' and pompously pontificatin' go together, there is definitely a genetic marker for it.

Wait now, so what am I to draw from the story of that other woman? That your taste in women is so particular that they will both have the same birthmark? Or that, perhaps, that woman and your wife are SECRET SIBLINGS?

... in this thread, enjoying capslock.

These axia are NOT MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE.
