Repenting Other Lives Unknown

I was going through my parents papers while cleaning up the office and found a picture of myself nearly exactly thirty years ago. I had borrowed the school's reflector telescope and was trying to align the mirror to look at sunspots.

I'm not sure what does it for me more, the annoyed, self-important grimace, the clenched mouth full of braces, the overgrown buster brown haircut, the huge polaroid aviators that I wrongly thought looked like John Lennon, the Wrangler jeans with the kid wallet embossing, or the 1981 Waffle-soled Nikes.

Me friken', mon.

Oh, I've got some doozies from the era. You should see my gaunt children-of-the-corn look from 12th grade!

Definitely a museum piece. Both the child and the telescope.

Wow. Just...wow.

Sometime I'll dig out and post my 8th grade yearbook photo. The hair was almost as bad--I had an overgrown Toni Tennille haircut.

Those aren't Nikes. Three stripes mean Adidas.

You look like every boy I went to high school with.
