I was Dreaming Like a Texan Girl

Tuesdays are becoming my killer day. Long hours, difficult problems to dissect, and lots of correspondence and conference calls. On the whole productive, though. Cara Sposa was at an all-day training. She sees the specialist next week, so we're on tenterhooks about the results. And frustrated with half-completed bits of project to pick up off the ground and dust off. Things are getting back into shape at work now that we're both on the case, but to be honest, neither of us wanted to be doing this again. So it's all pretty stressful. By evening, we were both fed up.

So we broke into the mead last night. A nice batch. Just slightly sweet, with the honey mostly a rich wildflower mix, emphasizing the nutmeg and clove additions.

And with the kick of Thor accidentally elbowing you in the head as he pushes towards the bar, screaming for mead, wenches, and tales of great heroics in no particular order.

We probably would have been OK, if we hadn't followed it with hot spiced wine. It's recycling day, so I had to be up extra early to put things out. Some sort of hot wet blanket of a weather system made an unseasonable visit. I felt better after a couple of hours in the gym. Then back to work.

Speaking of overindulging in drink, wenches, heroic tales, and the baggage that comes from long years together, my poem "Shadakar" is now up on Heroic Fantasy Quarterly.

Man, I love the artwork on that site. Go see for yourself.

It does have good art! And I like your poem, liked especially this:

your mind ploughing the fields of your largesse,
lost in the mirror of your greatness.

A kind of Narcissus, but fascinated by his own glory rather than his beauty.

Lightening by a breath is nice, too.

(Hey, and I didn't say, but keep your spirits up, you and CS.)

Thanks. Trying not to think about it most of the time.

But as for Shadakar, those are my favourite parts, too.
