So this very cute raccoon mother was peeking in our window after hours, meaning when we were working past sundown, which lately has been nearly every day.

And then I went into the shed (a garage that has never had an automobile in it) and found that she'd set up shop in the box where our old colour printer used to be. I used a bamboo stick to convince her that this is not a good venue to raise her kits.

Thankfully, she agreed. Now I only have to clean the raccoon shit off of the tools.

So there were no babies as yet--that must have made it easier. But I don't envy you the cleaning task.

Err, no. She had kits. They had been living there for a while. I believe she moved them safely out in the night after my banging around the rafters, and it's warmed up considerably this week.

I still feel bad about it, but there's no way I could allow her to continue to wreck everything in the shed.

Raccoons: The cute, cute face of eeeeee-vil.

Once upon a time, we had a momma 'coon decide our chimney would be a great place to raise her babies.

Thankfully, the mere fact that we climbed out on the roof to peek down at them was enough incentive for her to move along.

However, they all still come back FAR too regularly, to visit the sashimi bar (aka, the koi pond).

And occasionally have screaming fights on the roof outside our bedroom window. Usually when the windows are open.

Evil beasts. Evil.

There's been a huge push for composting in Kingston, so I've noticed a huge leap in the number of raccoons and rats about. They've even displaced the skunks!
