Maybe I'm a Dog That's Lost His Bite

Saw a good film yesterday: Okuribito. A fascinating movie that deals with the stigma and the redemption via noble treatment of those who are paid to conduct the "laying out" of Japanese dead. It's a beautiful film, dealing with one man's soul journey into the past and his choice to enrich life by honoring the dead. I highly recommend it.

On another, similar front, there is a wonderful article in the NYT about the translation of Amos Oz biography, A Tale of Love and Darkness. Well worth a read, both the article and the book.

I don't expect to be treated like a fool no more, I don't expect to sleep through the night.

I am remembering a girl when I was young
And we said These songs are true
These days are ours
These tears are free
