I'm having a wonderful day. I'm taking it off—completely. I haven't moved from the couch in five hours. Mostly, I'm giving Dalen a lot of scratches and pattings. She's liking that. As evidenced by the dried dog-nuzzle-stuff in my ear.

I've listened to acwise's "Children of Main Street" and also Kelly Barnhill's "The Taxidermist's Other Wife" at Clarke's World Magazine—Give 'em a listen. Kate Baker does a splendid job of reading both these stories, which have a very different feel to them. I've also read much of Onspec's latest mag, including a story by ChiZine's old webmaster, Ian Rogers, which was surprising to find.

Cara Sposa is off with her workmates for a Christmas dinner tonight. And now, thanks to Sting's Christmas Album, I'm thinking of meeting her tonight with soul cakes and a steaming bowl of smoking bishop (Bob Cratchett!). I've never made either of them before, but they sound like fun.

Especially the smoking bishop. Which I'm going to make with Taylor Fladgate Port, it being on sale at LCBO.

I'm such a lush.

But a happy lush.
